You probably saw that term in a guide to doing a 600 Monk/Rit/etc. It's armor with an armor rating of 15, which will make you take a little more than twice the damage you'd normally take at 60.
It's used because the Protective Spirit + Spirit Bond combo will always outheal your damage if you take enough damage, so wear weaker armor to get desired damage. It's even more preferable to use your starter armor set in some cases. |

Yes. 15AL is just shorthand for 'armor: 15'; it stands for armor level.

AL means Armour Level. 15 being the lowest level i.e. starter armour.

Starter armor for a caster is 5 AL, if you still have it, but 15 AL is the lowest you can buy.

Good for farming Especially with spirit bond....plus the armor is really accessible and cheap.

The 55 monk is great. Ha ha watch me kill something with 1000 health with just 55 on me. Great fun.
So the 15 Armor rating is great when you put the Gold runes on it your heath goes down so that you can not take more than 10% of max heath or 5 damage per shot and you can heal yourself faster than they can kill you. The trick is to get your armor rating and your health down so much that you become invincible in some area's. Of course if there is a CONDITION REMOVAL foe in the area your dead- fast. |

Quote:
A 55 can use Spirit Bond to counter health degen or life steal. Since armor rating doesn't matter with Protective Spirit, cheap armor works just as well for a 55, and gives you the option to use Spirit Bond. I think you meant enchantment removal. I wouldn't go with starting armor for a 55 build. The headpieces don't give an attribute point like the ones you can buy.
